Who is this retreat for?

This retreat is for anyone who is drawn to movement, the mountains, and where these two intertwine! Move, Groove and Flow – We will be practicing different and unique styles of yoga, fitness, dance-inspired movement, restoration, and more. Get to know me and try some of my classes online-live or on YouTube beforehand, too!

This yoga retreat in the Dolomites is great if you desire more freedom in your retreat-itinerary, too! On day 2 and 3 you will have large chunks of free time to practice self-care – whatever that means for you! Hike, bike, or enjoy the spa. The time is yours.

You don’t need yoga or fitness-class experience to join this retreat, but if you’ve been to a few classes and/or are up for trying a multitude of movement styles, you’ll be just fine! I always will encourage you to listen to your body and to do what feels right for you, that day.

B: Riding Solo but want space: You’re coming alone but you prefer to have a Panorama Double or Suite for more privacy & more space, You don’t mind sleeping on the queen bed with another participant OR you could be happy sleeping on the day-bed/sofa-bed, too. Choose both Panorama Double Room and Panorama Suite Room and select the box on the registration form that says, “I’m coming alone but prefer to share a room.” In this situation, I will do my best to find a roommate for you that has also selected the same options, however – this possibility depends on if anyone else also wants to share a room, too. You will be notified 2 months prior of the current status and if no one wants to share you can choose to stay in your room/suite alone, paying the single-use-surcharge, or move to the cabin room if there is space available, accepting any changes to the price. ACCESSING THE HUT ITSELF:

  • Hiking: The hike from the Zumis Parking Lot (paid, not free) in Rodeneck, Italy is 5.6 km, 1.5-2 hours walking, and climbs 251 high meters; in Alpine terms this hike is easy-moderate. I will be leading a group hike from the Zumis parking lot on Day 1 starting at 11:00.
  • Driving: You are permitted to take your car to the hut as well. The road is not super steep and you do not need 4 wheel drive, but some height clearance is suggested as there can be roots and holes in the road. It was well maintained when I visited in fall of 2025. On the Starkenfeld website they make a note of only being allowed to do this before 10:00 and after 16:30, however this is not true in the low season which is when we are visiting!
  • Van Transfer: The hut provides a van transfer for guests to arrive to the hut and to leave on the day of departure.

A note for hiking: We can give our luggage to the van for transfer at 11:00 and then hike up with just a small day-bag. I personally will be doing this option!

GETTING TO RODENECK, ITALY:

  • Carpool from Garmisch, Germany: I will be coordinating with the group a few weeks beforehand to help arrange carpooling.
  • Use Public Transit: Visit theStarkenfeld website for more info.
    • You can check the Südtirolbus and the FlixBus for nearby connections.
  • Drive yourself

FLYING TO THE REGION:

  • If you must fly to arrive to the retreat then I can suggest checking a few airports for the best deals.
    • Bolzano, Italy
    • Munich, Germany
    • Innsbruck, Austria
    • Verona, Italy
    • Milan (Bergamo), Italy
    • If you arrive to Innsbruck, Verona, Munich, or Bergamo (Milan), there are direct bus connections to South Tirol with the Südtirolbus.

The hike up to the hut is discussed in the FAQ titled How do I access the hut/retreat location?

On Day 2 you’ll have the opportunity to take a hike with the group. Plan for about 2.5 hours of total hiking and climbing around 250 high meters, 7-8 km, and we’ll spot for some lunch along the way.

Sunscreen/sunglasses, warm hat and a sun hat (it will get cold at night), hiking shoes that you’ve already broken in, rain coat, sports clothing, lounge-wear, hiking poles if desired, toiletries, earplugs (just in case), bug repellent, a few hiking snacks if desired, ability to carry ~1-2 liters of water, cash/card to pay for your room and to purchase drinks, passport, & your yoga mat!
