LET GO & GROW: HIKING AND YOGA RETREAT

Galtür, Austria

Release & Radiate in the Austrian Alps

Take a few days to step into nature, onto your mat and out of your regular routine. This hiking and yoga retreat will give you the chance to explore, move, refresh, introspect, and unwind in the beautiful Austrian Alps. Surrounded by nature, this retreat is designed to hold space for you; to offer you the opportunity to connect to yourself, identify what could be holding you back, help you LET GO of limitations and GROW into your next chapter feeling radiant.

Who is this hiking & yoga retreat for?

This retreat is for anyone who enjoys movement, time outdoors and thoughtful self-exploration – whether you’re navigating change or simply curious to expand your horizons in a beautiful mountain valley.

You might join if you:

  • Prefer small retreat groups (max 8 students)
  • Appreciate structure & not having to plan

Retreat Theme

Each day of our four-day hiking and yoga retreat has it’s own mini theme (see above!) but Let Go & Grow is for anyone who wants to slow down, spend time in nature and explore their inner landscape with curiosity and intention. You don’t need to feel stuck to benefit from this experience – simply be open to learning, reflecting and growing.

This retreat offers a thoughtfully structured blend of daily yoga practices, hikes, journaling, and creative exploration. Together, these practices create space to better understand your habits, values, and patterns – both the ones that support you and the ones you may be ready to gently shift.

You’ll explore foundational yoga philosophy alongside modern insights, gaining practical tools for self-awareness, perspective and intentional growth. Time in nature supports this process naturally, offering clarity, grounding, and a chance to reconnect – to yourself, to others, and to what feels meaningful right now.

With cozy accommodations, steady rhythms to the day, and a small, supportive group, Let Go & Grow is both grounding and expansive. You’ll leave feeling refreshed, centered and more connected to your own sense of direction.

Words from happy participants…

“The retreat with Erin grounded me again and also reminded me how much I love being outdoors. Connecting with nature in this way was both refreshing and healing, adding another layer of depth to the whole experience. There truly is no one like you, Erin. You create a space that is inspiring, healing and energizing, and that makes your yoga lessons so special. After your yoga classes I feel amazing! My body feels so much better and my mind becomes very calm.

The hike from Galtür, Austria is 8.1 km, 2.5-3 hours walking, and climbs 510 high meters. The hike follows the valley and climbs at a mild to moderate grade. Hiking or aerobic fitness is required. The hikes also take place at high elevation (1,500-2,500 meters) and this can impact how you feel.

If you’d like to carpool from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area, I will be coordinating with the group a couple months beforehand. Arrival by car is the easiest way to get to Galtür, however it is also accessible by train and bus. If you are flying in the suggested airport is Innsbruck, Austria or Munich, Germany. If you fly into Munich you can get to Garmisch-Partenkirchen by train or bus and then potentially carpool with the group (not guaranteed; we can discuss options/questions via Email).

Please visit the website of the hut for all arrival details: https://www.jamtalhuette.at/en/anreise.html

Car Parking: There is a free lot near the Menta Alm. Park there if possible. If not, there is a paid lot in Galtür center located here.

Luggage transport: The hut has a taxi service that meets folks in the city center here and collects bags. After booking, there will be more detailed information about this closer to the departure date! Luggage transport was €10 per bag per direction in 2025.

All of the hikes are not professionally guided, as I am not a certified mountain guide. I have performed research and will have offline maps available for us to use, but all hiking is done at your own risk.

  • On day two, we’ll enjoy a low-key hike along the futschoelbach stream (1.25 hours there, 315 hm, 3km)
  • Day three will offer a slightly more challenging day hike to the Russkopf (1.5 hours up, 530hm, 3.5km)
  • To help know if this retreat is for you, I can only suggest getting out and walking these distances and ideally practicing with hikes of similar elevation gain.

Our accommodation in the Jamtalhütte is traditional and brings a truly classic hut vibe. The hut is situated at the end of a valley with a glacier on one side and mountain greenery and flowers on the other; a river flows through the length of the entire valley.

There are double rooms and group-rooms available. Think sturdy, solid wood framed beds, space for personal belongings and windows opening up to a mountain view.

As with most mountain huts, the showers are downstairs but in each bedroom there is a sink – a luxury in a mountain hut!

There are double rooms available and they can only be booked as private rooms if you choose to pay for the overnight costs of the bed in your room: ~€31 per night.

Cancellation policy for weekend retreats (2+ days)

  • Cancellations up to 60 days prior: Free, less the deposit.
  • Cancellation between 59-31 days prior: 50% of the remaining retreat cost is refunded, less the deposit.
  • Cancellation within 30 days of the retreat: No refund given
  • Early departure from the retreat: No refund given
  • If you can find someone to replace you at the event, or there is someone on the wait-list, you will receive a refund less the deposit.

If Erin must cancel the retreat herself due to injury, illness, or other condition/problem that prevents her from leading the event, another teacher will step in if available. If another teacher is not available, you will receive a full refund for the retreat.

It is highly advised that you take out travel insurance for your trip. Erin and The Third Place are not responsible for money lost due to your own cancellations, regardless of reason for cancelling.

Please read more about cancellations in the Terms and Conditions.

The minimum group number is 5 and the maximum is 8 participants.

Food/Meals: The Jamtalhütte boasts classic Tyrolean dishes and makes you feel right at home at the end of a long day in the mountains. The following meals are included in your retreat price:

  • Very simple breakfast buffet: Bread, butter, jam, cheese, cold cuts and muesli with either tea, coffee or hot chocolate
  • Basic sandwich created from the breakfast buffet options + tea for hiking
  • Dinner: Three course menu – starter, main course, and dessert.

Vegetarian options available. Unfortunately, this hut cannot accommodate Vegan meals.

Based on experience at this hut, I highly recommend packing supplemental snacks of your preference to contribute to your breakfast and packed-lunch experience! The buffet is very simple.

Packing list: Layerable clothing is key! Sunscreen/sunglasses, warm hat and a sun hat (it will get cold at night), hiking shoes that you’ve already broken in, rain coat, sports clothing, hiking poles, toiletries, earplugs, schlafsack (a thin liner that you sleep in to separate you from the hut blankets that are provided) bug repellent, a few additional snacks to supplement the packed lunches, ability to carry ~2 liters of water, cash to pay for your room and to purchase drinks, passport, DAV/OAV membership card if you have it, your yoga mat!

A note about hiking shoes: You do not need heavy duty mountaineering boots for this retreat. Hike in comfortable, grippy shoes that you feel secure in. I personally wear trail-running sneakers. Some people wear boots. It’s up to you.

I will carry a basic first aid kit with me, but please don’t forget your medications or specific items you prefer to carry.

You can if you want to! There is also luggage transport available for a ~10 euros. This means that you can send your larger backpack and yoga mat up to the hut and just carry a small day-pack with water and essentials. I highly recommend this option unless you are used to backpacking with weight on your back.

Please inquire about your personal situation and questions to me directly.

No, this hut does not accept dogs.

No, only the welcome circle is mandatory. If you have the desire to do your own thing or hike extra long one day, go for it. However, all the activities are highly encouraged to help you get to know the group, expand your knowledge and skill set, and enjoy the retreat experience!

There’s a saying I like that goes, “There’s no bad weather, only bad gear.” 🙂 Yes, we’ll go even if it rains! There will be replacement activities instead of day-hikes as necessary.
