Meet Your fitness and yoga Instructor

Hey, I’m Erin! An ex-gymnast turned passionate teacher.

After 10 years as a competitive gymnast in South Carolina (and a few regional & national titles to boot), moving away from my athletic focus was both exciting and very daunting. After quitting gymnastics at 20 years old, I felt unsure of where to go next. However, many opportunities, new hobbies, and inspirational teachers filled my college years and I discovered my passion for yoga and fitness, as a student but also as a teacher.

I regularly see many adults and children that have lost the connection with their bodies and haven’t learned how to enjoy movement. For something that holds so much power, exercise is something we NEED to do! Not only for our bodies and longevity, but also for our mental health.

I hold space for my students to discover their own capabilities, to feel accepted, to respect their own boundaries, and to feel safely guided along the journey.

I know the importance of movement, anatomy education, breathwork and introspection in respect to overall health and I want to share my knowledge with as many people as I can, from all walks of life. It’s not just what we do on our mats, it’s also learning how to carry that knowledge into daily life.

Why Yoga? Which Yoga Style?

I first discovered yoga through a course in college. It was an Ashtanga Power Yoga class and I was HOOKED. Ashtanga yoga asks the student to practice the same regimented flow time and time again, however, and with time I realized I wanted more creativity out of my yoga practice. Enter Vinyasa Yoga.

Through Vinyasa Yoga I found my passion for the practice. It is flowy, creative, fun, and it holds space for new discoveries to be made. Yoga is a practice of more than just physical movement. It incorporates the breath, the mind, the spirit, AND the body. It allows us to move in an embodied way. It’s a moving meditation!

Yoga attracted me at first because of the physical practice, Asana. But the more I learned about the depth of the practice, the history, the teachings that underpin it, the more I wanted to know. Now, I love to weave accessible yogic education into my asana classes as well as anatomy-informed teachings to better help my students understand their own bodies. I know that most people come for the physical – that was me, too!

Come for the movement – stay for the yoga!

Why Personal Training?

Why Personal Training? This is an easy one – I love people and I love movement! And even more than that, I love encouraging and helping people reach their own goals. Practicing in the one-on-one (1:1) manner allows us to truly dive into your goals – it’s my favorite way to teach. You’ll develop safe form, mind-to-body connections to better understand your anatomy, and to focus on what YOU need! Which as we know can vary week to week and year to year.

Working one-on-one opens more doors than you can imagine. You will learn, grow, and laugh with me and I’ll help you discover how to ENJOY MOVEMENT!

How I ended up in Germany

My college years, filled with new opportunities and inspiring mentors, led me to discover a passion for yoga and fitness—not just as a student, but as a teacher. A desire for new experiences lead me to a six-month study abroad semester in Italy in 2014 and that cemented my love for Europe.

In 2015, I moved to Garmisch-Partenkirchen after graduating from Clemson University with a degree in veterinary science (which was no longer my passion), driven by my desire to live abroad. After seven years of juggling part-time jobs with the US Army and teaching yoga locally, I took the leap into self-employment.
In April 2024, I founded The Third Place, aiming to grow my fitness and yoga business by hosting European retreats, collaborating with local partners, and offer more private and group classes!

A few words from my happy students…

“I hardly ever miss a class! Erin keeps me motivated and helps me hold myself accountable for showing up on my mat! I’m so proud and grateful for this habit I’ve built. It’s the best hour of my day most days!”

-dakota, Online STUDENT

“Erin’s knowledge and approach are purely expertise. She knows just when and what to say to allow the student to follow and not be distracted. I highly recommend Erin’s classes to everyone at all levels of practice.”

-renee, online & private student

“The 12 Weeks of Movement course was very informative. Erin provides alternatives to positions to make the practice individualized. No two classes were the same, [we] always changed positions and learned new techniques each class.”
